General information and overview

The Maserati Quattroporte is a full-size luxury sedan tailored for India with 2979cc or 3799cc V6 petrol engines in variants like 350 GranLusso, 430 GranSport, and GTS GranSport, offering automatic transmission, 5 seats, and rear-wheel drive for dynamic prowess. I appreciate its 5.3-meter length that belies agile handling on our roads, decent ground clearance for speed breakers, and a suspension setup balancing sporty firmness with pothole absorption. Key aspects include ventilated leather seats, 360-degree camera, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, keyless entry, and a touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for modern connectivity. Performance captivates with quick ZF 8-speed shifts, thrilling acceleration to 100 kmph in about 5.5 seconds, and a sonorous exhaust that elevates drives. Spacious cabin and head-turning design make it ideal for executives wanting engagement over anonymity, though it's thirsty and maintenance-intensive—perfect for buyers valuing Italian heritage and driver-focused luxury in our market.

The Maserati Quattroporte is a full-size luxury sedan tailored for India with a 5.3m-long body seating five comfortably, powered by efficient 2979cc V6 petrol engines in base and mid variants delivering 350bhp, or the punchier 3799cc V8 in the GTS, all paired to an 8-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive for agile, sports-car-like handling without body roll, aided by adjustable ground clearance suiting our bumpy roads and speed breakers. I appreciate its stunning Italian design with sharp LED headlights, iconic grille, plush leather interiors, ventilated seats, large touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 360-camera, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, and traction control for safety. Performance shines with rapid 0-100kph acceleration, dynamic suspension that's wow on twisties yet composed in cities, and a sweet engine note, though some road noise filters in; at ₹1.71-2.09 Crore ex-showroom, it's a head-turner blending elegance, tech, and driver joy, ideal for buyers seeking exclusivity over ultimate efficiency in India's premium market.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I find the Maserati Quattroporte a thrilling blend of Italian flair and performance that stands out on Indian roads, delivering wow-factor dynamics in a luxury sedan package. Driving its 2979cc V6 variants like the 350 GranLusso or 430 GranSport, I experience sharp handling and agile responses despite the 5.3-meter length, making it feel nimble through corners and effortless on highways. The suspension balances sportiness with comfort over potholes and speed breakers, aided by adjustable ground clearance that suits our uneven surfaces without constant worry. Inside, plush ventilated leather seats and a responsive touchscreen with Apple CarPlay wrap me in elegance, while the engine's sweet growl adds drama. It's not the softest ride against rivals, but that firmness enhances engagement for enthusiasts like me who crave driver involvement over cushy isolation. Pace is electrifying, hitting strong acceleration that leaves boy racers behind, and rear-wheel drive purity shines without excess tech clutter. For buyers seeking presence and joy behind the wheel in India, I recommend it wholeheartedly if you prioritize thrills over ultimate efficiency—it's a head-turner that rewards active driving on long drives or city sprints.

I find the Maserati Quattroporte to be a thrilling blend of Italian flair and raw performance that stands out on Indian roads, delivering enormous pace from its 2979cc V6 engine with 350bhp, hitting 100kph in about 5.5 seconds in Sport mode while gripping corners with superb rear-wheel-drive dynamics and an 8-speed ZF gearbox that keeps power flowing effortlessly. Despite its 5.3m length, it feels agile and engaging to drive myself, with adjustable ground clearance that handles speed breakers and potholes decently without constant worry, though I notice some road and tyre noise intruding on the luxurious cabin wrapped in high-quality leather and equipped with ventilated seats, a large touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, 360-degree camera, and cruise control. The ride is dynamic rather than plush like rivals, prioritizing handling over outright comfort, but it turns heads with its sleek design, sharp LED headlights, and signature grille, making every drive feel like commanding a piece of automotive theatre. In India, where luxury sedans demand presence and excitement, I recommend it wholeheartedly for enthusiasts craving that Maserati character over German tech overload—it's not the most efficient or refined daily, but the sheer joy of propulsion and style makes it a compelling buy if performance trumps practicality.

Recent news and announcements

Maserati has officially ended the production of the current sixth-generation Quattroporte, marking the end of an era for this iconic luxury sedan after over 60 years. The final model, dubbed the Grand Finale, features a unique Blue Nobile exterior finish, carbon fiber bumpers, and bespoke interior details. This special edition is a tribute to the Quattroportes legacy. I think this is a fitting farewell to a car that has been a symbol of Italian elegance and performance.

For the 2024 model year, the Maserati Quattroporte is available only in the Modena Ultima guise, celebrating its final year before a major redesign. This version comes with special 21-inch wheels, red-painted brake calipers, and a host of luxury features including a Harman/Kardon stereo system and four-zone automatic climate control. The Quattroporte is expected to return in the future with an electric variant. I believe this special edition is a great way to send off the current generation.
June 21, 2024
The 2024 Maserati Quattroporte drops the optional twin-turbo V-8 engine from its lineup, leaving the 424-hp twin-turbo V-6 as the only engine choice. This engine, combined with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, provides a sporty driving experience. The Quattroporte also features advanced technologies like full-speed adaptive cruise control and traffic sign recognition. I think the V-6 engine still offers plenty of power and excitement.
June 16, 2024
Maserati has announced that the next generation of the Quattroporte will include an electric variant, likely to be called the Quattroporte Folgore. This move aligns with Maseratis broader strategy to electrify its lineup. The upcoming electric Quattroporte is expected to offer a significant boost in performance and efficiency. Im excited to see how Maserati will balance performance and luxury in their electric models.
May 20, 2024
The 2024 Maserati Quattroporte boasts several advanced safety and convenience features, including full-speed adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and Highway Assist. These features combine to make highway driving smoother and safer. The Quattroporte also retains its distinctive Italian design and luxurious interior. I think these features make the Quattroporte a compelling choice for those seeking both style and technology.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the Maserati Quattroporte starts at ₹1.71 crore ex-showroom for the 350 GranLusso variant with the 2979cc petrol engine, climbing to ₹1.86 crore for the 430 GranSport, and up to ₹2.09 crore for the GTS GranSport's 3799cc V6, with some sources noting top ends around ₹2.12 crore ex-showroom. On-road prices in major cities like Mumbai or Delhi add 15-20% via taxes, registration, insurance, and high import duties typical for luxury imports, pushing the 350 GranLusso to about ₹2.05-2.15 crore on-road, the 430 GranSport to ₹2.22-2.35 crore, and GTS models beyond ₹2.5 crore depending on location-specific levies. I view this pricing as premium yet justified for the Quattroporte's bespoke Italian craftsmanship and performance exclusivity in our market, where few sedans match its style and power. It undercuts some Bentley or Rolls-Royce rivals but demands careful budgeting for ownership—the ex-showroom to on-road jump highlights import costs, so I advise negotiating dealer packages for insurance and accessories to ease the hit. For affluent buyers eyeing status and driving pleasure, the value shines in long-term satisfaction over mass-market luxuries, though resale might lag due to high maintenance.

In India, the Maserati Quattroporte starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹1.71 Crore for the base Quattroporte 350 GranLusso variant with the 2979cc V6 petrol engine, climbing to ₹1.86 Crore for the 430 GranSport, and topping out at ₹2.09 Crore for the GTS GranSport with the 3799cc V-type petrol unit, all featuring automatic transmission, 5 seating, and premium specs like ventilated seats, keyless entry, traction control, and Android Auto. On-road prices in major cities like Delhi or Mumbai add roughly 15-20% via RTO registration, insurance, and taxes—expect around ₹2.0-2.45 Crore for the base and up to ₹2.45-2.7 Crore for the top GTS, depending on location-specific levies and optional customizations. I view this pricing as justified for the Quattroporte's exclusivity in India's luxury segment, where it undercuts some Bentley or Aston rivals while offering superior driver involvement and head-turning presence; the jump between variants delivers meaningful upgrades in power and sporty trim without excessive premiums, making the mid-range 430 GranSport my pick for value if you're buying for spirited drives on highways or city boulevards, though factor in high import duties inflating costs—still, resale holds decently for low-mileage examples, aiding long-term ownership decisions.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

I note the Quattroporte's ARAI-rated 11.76 kmpl across its 2979cc and 3799cc petrol variants, with real-world owner reports averaging 11 kmpl in India. Running costs are steep at premium fuel rates, so if mileage drives your decision, I'd suggest it only for low-usage enthusiasts—expect ₹15-20 per km total costs, favoring pure performance over efficiency.
December 21, 2025
I see the Quattroporte's ARAI-rated 11.76kmpl across its 2979cc and 3799cc petrol variants as realistic for India, with owner reports confirming around 11kmpl in mixed conditions, dropping to 8-9kmpl in city traffic or spirited runs due to its thirsty V6 and 2-tonne heft. Running costs are steep at ₹15-20 per km with premium fuel, plus premium servicing, so I advise it only if mileage isn't your priority—opt for disciplined driving to stretch efficiency and budget ₹3-4 lakh annually for a moderate user making the buy worthwhile for unmatched thrill.
