Maruti Ritz VXi Automatic ABS
Maruti Variant
General information and overview
The Maruti Ritz VXi Automatic ABS is a feature-packed hatchback that was popular for its blend of performance, comfort, and practicality. Powered by a 1197 cc petrol engine producing 85 bhp, this car offers smooth acceleration and decent pickup. The automatic transmission makes it easy to navigate through city traffic. The VXi variant comes with several key features such as central locking, digital odometer, air conditioner, keyless entry, Bluetooth connectivity, and steering-mounted controls. The car also boasts good suspension, ensuring a comfortable ride even on bumpy roads. Safety features include ABS, which is highly recommended for enhanced braking performance. Overall, the Ritz VXi Automatic ABS is a reliable and comfortable choice for daily driving needs.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Maruti Ritz VXi Automatic ABS is a solid choice for those seeking a blend of comfort, performance, and practicality. From my experience, the Ritz stands out for its smooth handling and effortless steering, making it a joy to drive in both city and highway conditions. However, the vehicle does exhibit some body roll at high speeds, which might be a concern for some drivers. The automatic transmission, while convenient, slightly compromises on mileage compared to the manual variant. Overall, the Ritz VXi Automatic ABS offers a well-rounded package with good mileage, comfortable ride, and decent performance, making it a viable option for those looking for a reliable hatchback.
Recent news and announcements
The Maruti Suzuki Ritz VXi Automatic ABS has been discontinued from the Indian market. This decision was part of Maruti Suzukis strategy to streamline their product lineup and focus on more popular models. The Ritz had been in production for over eight years and managed to sell around 4 lakh units during its tenure.
In terms of design, the Ritz VXi Automatic ABS boasted a tall boy design, which provided generous headroom and a spacious interior. The car also came with features like a rear spoiler, day and night inner rear view mirror, and a tilt adjustable steering wheel column. I think the tall boy design was a unique selling point for the Ritz.
Maruti Suzuki announced that the Ritz VXi Automatic ABS would be priced at Rs. 6.15 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), placing it competitively against the Honda Brio Auto and Hyundai i20 Auto. This automatic variant came with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine. I think this pricing was a smart move to attract more buyers.
The Maruti Suzuki Ritz VXi Automatic ABS was powered by a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine, producing 85 PS of power and 114 Nm of torque. The automatic transmission was a 4-speed unit, which was also seen in other Maruti Suzuki models. I believe this engine provided a good balance between performance and fuel efficiency.
The Ritz VXi Automatic ABS was part of the B+ segment hatchback space, competing directly with models like the Hyundai i20. Its positioning in this segment made it an attractive option for buyers looking for a feature-packed hatchback with an automatic transmission.
Pricing details and changes
The Maruti Ritz VXi Automatic ABS, although discontinued, can still be valued based on its last recorded prices. Ex-showroom prices for this variant were around Rs. 6.34 lakh. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, would have been approximately Rs. 7.5 lakh to Rs. 8 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. While the car is no longer in production, these prices give an idea of its value in the used car market. If youre considering purchasing a used Ritz VXi Automatic ABS, expect to pay a fraction of the original price, likely in the range of Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh, depending on the cars condition and mileage.
Fuel efficiency information
The Maruti Ritz VXi Automatic ABS offers a mileage of 17.16 kmpl, as per ARAI standards. While this is slightly lower than the manual variants, it is still respectable for an automatic transmission. In real-world driving conditions, you can expect around 14-16 kmpl in city driving and up to 18 kmpl on highways. This makes the Ritz a relatively fuel-efficient option, especially considering its automatic gearbox, which is a significant factor for those concerned about running costs.

Got to test drive new Ritz automatic today.. Positives: Good comfortable seating posture and excellent driving comfort. throttle response and braking are excellent..tall boy car with easy ingress & exgress.. Negatives: Available only in the Vxi trm...little smaller in the width and can accomodate only 4 adults (5 would be difficult); but no extra features -- no music system.. no seat height adjustment.. no electrically adjustable ORVM.. Lookwise, not at all good..both front and rear design not at all appealing; finally the on road price..hold your breath..Rs.7.2 Lacs ! without any accessories.. Maruti needs to seriously relook the price as well as the looks.. Looks like the old Ritz was better in looks.
Same like Swift, but the shape :-(
