General information and overview

I view the Mahindra Verito as a full-size sedan evolved from the durable Renault Logan, tailored for India's demanding roads with 180mm ground clearance, heavy-duty build, and a suspension excelling on undulations for plush ride comfort. Powered by a 1.5L diesel (68PS, 21 kmpl ARAI) or 1.4L petrol (80PS, 15.7 kmpl), it offers manual transmission, seating five in a wide cabin with generous rear legroom and 510L boot. Features include AC, power windows, touchscreen in tops, driver airbag, ABS, and stable highway manners, though steering feels vague and interiors basic. Proven in fleets for low maintenance and reliability, it's spacious, practical, and value-driven at Rs 5-8 lakh, perfect for budget families seeking longevity over luxury.
December 12, 2025
The Mahindra Verito is a compact, practical four‑door sedan sold in India with petrol, diesel and an electric E‑Verito derivative, built on a proven Renault platform noted for strong rear-seat space, simple ergonomics and durable construction. Under the hood the commonly available diesel uses a 1.5‑litre Renault K9K mill delivering frugal performance and good driveability for city and highway cruising while petrol engines offer adequate everyday use at lower efficiency. The cabin emphasises usable space and comfort with high ground clearance for Indian roads, but the interior materials and infotainment are basic compared with contemporary rivals; safety equipment has been gradually improved over time but lacks the fullest suite found in newer models. Overall the Verito targets buyers who prioritise low ownership costs, rear-seat space and a composed ride over cutting‑edge design or technology.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I find the Mahindra Verito a reliable workhorse for Indian buyers prioritizing durability and low running costs over modern flair. Its robust build from the Logan lineage handles pothole-ridden roads effortlessly with a suspension that soaks up bumps, making it ideal for city commutes and highways alike. The diesel engine delivers peppy performance with 21 kmpl mileage, while the spacious cabin comfortably seats five, offering ample legroom and boot space for family trips or fleet use. Steering is light for urban maneuvering, though it lacks feedback at high speeds, and safety includes driver airbag and ABS in higher trims. Maintenance is budget-friendly, with proven longevity in taxis proving its mettle. In 2025, at under Rs 8 lakh ex-showroom, it undercuts flashier rivals in ownership costs, but dated styling and basic interiors mean it's not for those seeking tech or sportiness. I recommend it if value, fuel efficiency, and ride comfort top your list—it's a smart, no-nonsense buy for practical Indian driving.
December 12, 2025
I find the Mahindra Verito to be a no-nonsense, value-oriented compact sedan that prioritises space, ride comfort and low running costs over styling or gadgetry. The Verito’s proven Renault-sourced 1.5‑litre diesel and simple petrol options deliver dependable performance and strong mid-range driveability for city and highway duties, while the tall, roomy cabin and firm build suit Indian families and taxi/fleet use. On the downside the design, interior trim and feature list feel dated compared with newer rivals, and the driving dynamics are competent but not engaging. If your priorities are durability, low maintenance and practical packaging rather than flashy looks or the latest tech, the Verito remains a sensible buy in its segment.

Recent news and announcements

Blu Smart, Indias first all-electric taxi service, plans to add 500 Mahindra eVerito electric sedans to its fleet. This expansion is part of their effort to provide a smart urban electric mobility option, especially in the Delhi-NCR region. I think this move is a significant step towards reducing air pollution in densely populated areas.
June 5, 2019
The Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, inducted 15 Mahindra eVerito electric vehicles into its fleet as part of a broader initiative to promote electric mobility. This move was expected to save 36,000 litres of fuel and reduce over 440 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. I think this is a great example of government support for sustainable transportation.
January 10, 2019
Mahindra & Mahindra launched the eVerito, an electric version of the Verito, with prices starting at Rs. 9.50 lakh. The eVerito is based on the Mahindra E2os powertrain and was launched at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2016. This launch marked a significant step in Mahindras electric vehicle portfolio.
June 2, 2016
Mahindra & Mahindra reported a 21% increase in passenger vehicle sales in March 2016, with the Verito contributing to this growth. The sales of passenger vehicles, including the Verito, stood at 26,885 units compared to 22,183 units in March 2015. This surge in sales was a positive indicator for the companys performance.
April 2, 2016
Mahindra & Mahindras passenger vehicle sales, including the Verito, declined by 15% in June 2015 compared to the same month in 2014. This decline reflected broader market challenges faced by the automotive industry.

Pricing details and changes

I see the Mahindra Verito's pricing as a strong value proposition in India's sedan market, with ex-showroom prices starting at Rs 5.28 lakh for base petrol variants, climbing to Rs 7.70 lakh for top diesel trims, and last recorded highs around Rs 8.42 lakh depending on location and variant. On-road prices in major cities like Delhi or Mumbai add Rs 80,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh for insurance, registration, and taxes, pushing totals to Rs 6.5-9.5 lakh—still competitive against newer hatches. As someone who's tracked ownership reports, this keeps it accessible for first-time buyers or fleets, with low depreciation aiding resale. Diesel models offer the best bang for buck given fuel savings, while petrol suits shorter runs. No major price hikes noted in 2025, making it a steal versus feature-packed rivals costing 20-30% more. I advise negotiating dealer offers and checking state subsidies, as its low maintenance—often under Rs 4,000 per service—translates to total ownership under Rs 50 paise per km, helping you save thousands annually on running costs.
December 12, 2025
The Verito’s last listed new prices in India start from around Rs. 5.28 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry variants and climb to roughly Rs. 7–8 lakh ex-showroom for higher trims depending on powertrain and options, with some variants historically listed up to Rs.11.8 lakh for special/spec models. On-road pricing will vary by city—adding registration, insurance, state taxes and handling typically adds 10–20% to the ex-showroom figure, so expect on-road prices roughly in the mid-Rs.6 lakh range for base models and towards Rs.8–9 lakh for better-equipped versions in many metro locations. Considering what you get—robust build, spacious interior and economical diesel option—the Verito undercuts many modern compact sedans on price, making it an attractive proposition for budget-conscious buyers, though you pay that saving with simpler interiors and fewer modern creature comforts.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

I rate the Verito's diesel at 20-22 kmpl real-world in mixed Indian conditions, petrol at 15-16 kmpl, making diesel the clear pick for cost-conscious buyers with running costs as low as Rs 2.5-3 per km on diesel. Its frugal Renault engine shines on highways, aiding quick payback versus thirstier rivals.
December 12, 2025
The diesel Verito’s ARAI-rated and real-world economy sits around the low‑20 km/l mark (commonly quoted 20–22 km/l) while petrol variants typically return in the mid‑teens (15–16 kmpl), and the electric E‑Verito offers city ranges reported around 110–140 km per charge depending on conditions. If running cost and fuel efficiency are your main decision drivers, the diesel Verito gives very competitive fuel bills for high-mileage users, but consider fuel type availability, duty cycles and total cost of ownership when choosing the variant.

Professional reviews and expert opinions on Mahindra Verito

All about new mahindra verito, details, specifications, photos, review and price of New mahindra verito in India.

Mahindra has been ruling the Sports Utility Vehicle segment in India for over a decade now but the automobile heavyweight felt the need to venture into the sedan class. Thus, Mahindra Verito was brought in front of enthusiasts but the response was not as overwhelming as the company had expected. As a result, the company decided to give a massive facelift to the car in order to make its presence felt in the industry. The new Mahindra Verito boasts of having not one or two but 23 new features which were not to be seen in the previous version of the car. There have been changes in the outlook of the car as well as interiors. The ergonomics basically is the area where change has been made. But what is it that segregates the new Verito from its antecedent?

Mahindra has launched the much-awaited 2013 model of Verito in India. It will be sold as ‘Verito Refresh’. When it comes to the styling and interiors, we must say that the company has worked very hard in making the Verito look less boxy and modern. Mahindra says there are 23 new changes and features on the Verito Refresh.

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched Executive Edition of their entry-level sedan 'Verito'. It is available in only white shade with sporty body decals and is priced at INR 7.75 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi). Other prominent features of Verito Executive Edition are touchscreen navigation system, leather upholstered seats, leather upholstered steering wheel and Bluetooth connectivity.

Fast Facts

  • Available in both petrol and diesel
  • Available in five variants: G2, G4, D2, D4 and D6
  • BSIV variants of Mahindra Verito are also available
  • Mahindra has added 23 new features (styling and comfort)
  • Petrol engine is 1390cc - 75 Bhp power and 110 Nm torque
  • Diesel engine is 1461cc - 65 Bhp power and 160 Nm torque
  • Available in eight shades

Exterior

Starting with the front fascia, Mahindra has blessed new Verito with stylish chrome grille that gives a better appeal to the front of car and makes the car resemble that of a Skoda. A change has been made in the headlights of the car as well and the difference can be seen in the positioning of the indicators. In the previous version of the car, the indicators used to be underneath the headlights whereas it is vice versa in the case of the new one. Adding to it, this very feature makes the car even more unique due to the fact that Verito might be the only car on the circuit which has indicators on top of headlights instead of below it. The front bumper as well as the fog lamps have also been revamped and the new look is truly commendable. There is a new feature related to the front fascia. Mahindra Verito now has windshield wipers towards the right side of the front screen according to the preference of the driver. Only countable number of features of the previous version has been kept in the car as the company did not want its customers to doubt that the new version is indeed a successor of the previous one. Moving to the rear portion of the car, a few noticeable changes can be seen in the tail lights and additionally, a fine amount of crease has been added for the betterment of the looks from the rear. Reverse lights have been gently put on both the taillights. In the previous version of the car, the number plate was stuck to the bumper of the car whereas this time they have fitted it to the boot of the car.

Interior

Not only the exteriors of the Verito are commendable but same goes for the interiors as well. Once we are inside the cabin, the first noticeable thing would be the buttons which are meant for power windows. In the previous version, the buttons used to be there on the central console but this time every door has its respective buttons for power windows which in turn makes it even more convenient to operate. Adding to this, the area of the central console can be used to accommodate something else instead of the power windows buttons in the previous version which covered up unnecessary space. Almost all of the components visible inside the cabin have been covered with beige which symbolizes luxury. Towards the right side of the steering wheel, the control functions of the central locking as well as the rear-view mirrors are installed. There is a button given beneath the steering wheel which is meant to control height of the bonnet. Thus, the interiors of the car are as good as the exteriors.

Engine and Gearbox

Mahindra Verito Refresh is powered by same Ranault engines - the common-rail diesel engine which displaces 1461cc to develop 65 bhp at 4000 rpm and 160 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. The petrol engine which displaces 1390cc to develop 75 bhp at 5500 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 3000 rpm. BSIV variants of Mahindra Verito are also available. The power train of Verito feels indestructible too in a way traditional engines did. The gear ratios are suited for commuting and getting in and out of the car is easy and seats are good for three-hour stints. The body structure of Verito is extremely stiff for good ride and handling and the use of a current platform also means crash survivability is of the highest order. The five-speed gearbox fitted contributes to driving pleasure a fair bit.

Safety Features

When it comes to safety of the passengers, Mahindra Verito might not be that much promising owing to the fact that the company could provide only one airbag instead of two. But loopholes are meant to be there in every car. Coming to the tires of the car, New Mahindra Verito is equipped with highly durable tires which give a high level of traction control to the car altogether. In addition, the fog lamps given to the new version of the car give a brighter luminance which makes it easy for the driver to drive through dense fogs.

Shades

Mahindra Verito Refresh is available in eight attractive colors: Dolphin Grey, Java Brown, Mist Silver, Diamond White, Toreador Red, Twilight Blue, Fiery Black and Rocky Beige.

Variants

Mahindra Verito Refresh is available in five variants: Petrol G2, Petrol G4, Diesel D2, Diesel D4 and Diesel D6. The base model of Verito is G2/D2 which comes with air-conditioner, power steering, boot opener, remote operated fuel tank lid, sun visors, body coloured bumpers, rear fog lamps, roof rails, anti-theft electronic safety system, tachometer, LCD screen on the instrument cluster. The next model is G4/D4 which in addition to the the features of G2/D2 comes with power windows, internally adjustable outside rear view mirrors, central locking, body coloured rear view mirrors and body coloured door handles. The top of the line variant is D6 which in addition to the features of D4 comes with 2 disc music system with four speakers, rear defogger, remote central locking, front fog lamps, alloy wheels, chrome finished front grille, ABS (Anti-lock braking system), driver side airbag and EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution).

Main Features

Verdict

On the whole, the new version of Mahindra Verito fares well in terms of exterior looks and interior looks. Minor changes have been made to the ergonomics of the car.
