Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Hyundai Venue stands out in the compact SUV segment with its stylish design, feature-rich interior, and multiple powertrain options. It's best suited for urban dwellers and small families who prioritize modern amenities and fuel efficiency. The Venue offers good value with its competitive pricing and Hyundai's reliable after-sales service. Reasons to buy include its extensive feature list, peppy turbo-petrol engine option, and compact dimensions for easy city maneuverability. However, potential buyers should consider the limited rear seat space and slightly firm ride quality on rough roads. The Venue is an excellent choice for first-time SUV buyers or those upgrading from a hatchback, offering a premium feel without breaking the bank.

Recent news and announcements

I recently spent time with the new generation Hyundai Venue in India, and I must say it represents a significant leap forward for the compact SUV segment. Built on the new K1 platform shared with the Kia Syros, this second-generation model feels substantially more mature and premium than its predecessor. The dimensions have grown noticeably with the vehicle now standing 48mm taller and 30mm wider, though it remains within the sub-4-metre bracket for tax benefits. What truly impresses me is the cabin transformation featuring twin 12.3-inch screens powered by NVIDIA, wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and level 2 ADAS on select variants. The powertrain options are compelling with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol delivering 120bhp, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol producing 83bhp, and a new 1.5-litre diesel automatic offering 116bhp with 250Nm torque. Pricing ranges from Rs. 7.90 lakh to Rs. 15.51 lakh across variants. The refinement levels, especially in the diesel automatic variant, feel closer to the segment-above Creta, while maintaining excellent packaging efficiency with 375 litres of boot space.

I've driven the second-generation Hyundai Venue across its turbo-petrol manual, N Line, and diesel-automatic variants in India, and it truly feels like a matured compact SUV ready to reclaim dominance in the sub-4m segment. Built on the stiffer K1 platform shared with the Kia Syros, it's now 30mm wider at 1800mm, 48mm taller at 1665mm, and boasts a 20mm longer 2520mm wheelbase for better stability and rear space, all while staying under 3995mm for tax benefits. The cabin impresses with premium dual 12.3-inch curved screens powered by NVIDIA for slick infotainment, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, OTA updates, and Level 2 ADAS on higher trims like the HX10 diesel AT, plus ventilated seats, Bose audio, and a 360-degree camera. Powertrains shine—the refined 1.5-litre diesel with 116bhp and 250Nm pairs smoothly with the new 6-speed torque converter auto for 20kmpl efficiency, while the 120bhp 1.0 turbo-petrol offers punchy manuals or DCTs with drive modes. Though top variants push pricing to Rs 15 lakh-plus, the squared-off bold design, six airbags, ESC, and electronic parking brake make it safer and more premium than before, positioning it strongly against Tata, Maruti, and Mahindra rivals.

The all-new second-generation Hyundai Venue represents a significant leap forward for this popular compact SUV segment. Having driven the latest iteration, I find it's no longer just a cosmetic update but a comprehensive redesign built on the new K1 platform shared with the Kia Syros. The Venue now measures 3995mm in length while growing 48mm taller and 30mm wider, delivering noticeably improved cabin space. What truly impresses me is the modern dual 12.3-inch curved display setup powered by NVIDIA, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and over-the-air update capability. The cabin feels genuinely premium with its multilayered dashboard design, ventilated front seats, and Bose eight-speaker audio system. Engine options include a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol with 120 horsepower, and a 1.5-liter diesel now offering a six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel-automatic combination impresses with its refinement and smooth delivery. Pricing ranges from Rs 7.9 lakh to Rs 15.51 lakh, making it competitive. Level 2 ADAS safety features on higher trims add confidence. While some may argue the N Line variant lacks mechanical differentiation, the overall package successfully addresses previous generation shortcomings and establishes the Venue as a credible contender in India's competitive compact SUV landscape.

The new 2025 Hyundai Venue has impressed me with its significant evolution in the Indian compact SUV segment. This generation brings a notably refreshed design philosophy with a boxy silhouette and sharper styling cues borrowed from its bigger sibling, the Creta. The SUV has grown in physical dimensions, now standing 48mm taller and 30mm wider than its predecessor, while maintaining the sub-4-metre length of 3995mm. Inside, the cabin feels substantially more premium with its dual-tone interior featuring navy and dove grey tones, complemented by the new curved dual 12.3-inch display setup powered by NVIDIA's CCNC system. I found the feature list remarkably comprehensive even in lower variants, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay standard across the range. The powertrain options remain familiar with the 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel, though the diesel now gains a new 6-speed automatic transmission option. Safety has been enhanced with Level 2 ADAS on higher trims, quad LED headlights, and six airbags across variants. Pricing starts at an attractive 7.90 lakh rupees, making it compelling against competitors like the Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon.

Expert Verdict

Professional reviews and expert opinions on Hyundai Venue

The Hyundai Venue is a subcompact crossover SUV that was first launched in the Indian car market in May 2019. The sub-4-meter SUV category helps the Venue get Indian tax advantages that are available for cars shorter than four meters. The Venue was the first product in its Indian car portfolio to compete with the other SUVs from the already popular brands. The Korean marque has now presented the 2022 facelift model of the car with plenty of sophisticated technology and cosmetic elements, but is it all about technology or is the SUV comfy as well? Let’s find out all the required information and discuss in detail the features and specs of the Hyundai Venue.

Hyundai Venue: My Take on This Compact SUV

I know that I have always gravitated toward the Hyundai Venue. The sharp edges or tech that’s packed in there is the easy part it is like the Venue feels like it was meant to slide into that daily life. Have you ever tried to squeeze into a small tight parking spot or try to zip through heavy city traffic? The Venue almost makes the car shrink for you. It is small enough to shoehorn anywhere but inside there is just enough space to make you feel noticed.

What’s Different in Hyundai Venue?

Performance and Choosing Engine

Alright, so what really powers this thing? The Engine You Choose is based on your driving vibe & I think that is smart as not everyone has that same style while driving. Luckily I had the chance to drive the 1.0 liters turbo petrol and it hits! But you wouldn’t really expect it to have that kind of zip out of a compact SUV and it packs some zip when you are going, so it is quite a nice little bit of fun if you are driving into town. But if you prefer to ease into cruising Hyundai has a 1.2 petrol too. If you are not using it to bomb around town at Red Light rally speeds and just need a daily commuter to rush to because you don’t have to gun it the lights every single time, it is perfect.

Interior: Lots of space, lots of comfort, and all the right tech.

It did not just throw an engine into a box on wheels in the case of Hyundai. As you step inside you can tell they really took the time to think about every inch. I like that everything feels as though it has purpose. For example, take the touchscreen display which is big, no doubt, but also stupidly simple to use. I would not be bumbling or squinting my way to catch them while driving. It is a bit more of a tap and go deal. Hyundai’s connected tech there is BlueLink. Features like remote start climate control even from my phone  were a ton of fun. What if before you get inside your car you heat it up and then pre cool it for you? A little luxury was something I could get used to!

Safety: Hyundai's Got You Covered

I do genuinely respect one thing from Hyundai and that is how much they have invested in safety. Six airbags, ESC, and hill assist control and all that. While I am not one who tests these out (this fingers crossed we never have too), it is nice to know they are there. These safety touches really are extremely bountiful in the Hyundai Venue which is almost like they went through all possible ‘what if’ we find ourselves worrying about when getting behind the wheel.

Why the Venue Works for Me

And the Venue for me really hits that balance between convenience and performance just right. It is about the right size for zipping around the city and makes my life a lot easier. No sweating over tight spots no bumper to bumper jams. It has enough oomph to make highway driving feel solid, but I would say if you are someone looking at SUVs but not the big out there ones that have the looks and stye as well as tech and comfort boxes ticked off give the Venue some serious thought! This must have been the thinking of Hyundai when it came up with this car for the city dweller yet without cutting too much detail.
