Recent news and announcements

The Hyundai Aura continues to impress me as a competent compact sedan offering remarkable value in the Indian market. Starting from Rs 6.00 lakh ex-showroom, this five-seater delivers practical transportation with a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 83 horsepower and 114 Newton-meters of torque, available with both five-speed manual and AMT transmissions. The petrol variant achieves a respectable 17 kilometers per litre, while the bi-fuel CNG option delivers 28.4 kilometers per kilogram, making it economical for budget-conscious buyers. I find the 402-litre boot space and 165-millimeter ground clearance particularly useful for Indian road conditions. The safety package impresses with six airbags standard across variants, and higher trims feature electronic stability control and hill-start assist. The infotainment system ranges from basic two-din audio in lower variants to an eight-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in top-spec variants. The recent addition of the S AMT variant at Rs 8.08 lakh makes automatic transmission significantly more accessible. Competing against the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze, the Aura holds its ground with refined driving dynamics, good build quality, and comprehensive feature offerings that justify its competitive positioning in the segment.

The Hyundai Aura continues to impress me as a practical compact sedan that delivers excellent value in the Indian market. Starting from Rs 6.54 lakh, this five-seater offers commendable space management with a 402-litre boot and comfortable seating for five occupants. The 1.2-litre petrol engine generates 83 horsepower and 114 Newton-metres of torque, paired with either a five-speed manual or AMT transmission, achieving a respectable 17 kmpl fuel efficiency. For those prioritizing economy, the CNG variant delivers an impressive 28.4 km/kg, making it highly competitive against rivals like the Maruti Dzire and Tata Tigor. The cabin quality impresses me, featuring light and responsive controls with a smooth, refined engine that barely intrudes into the cabin. The Aura comes equipped with six airbags as standard, electronic stability control in higher variants, and modern conveniences like wireless phone charging and an eight-inch touchscreen in top trims. The 165mm ground clearance does warrant caution on rough terrain, though the overall driving experience remains composed and comfortable for city and highway use. It's a sensible choice for Indian buyers seeking reliability and practicality without unnecessary frills.

The Hyundai Aura continues to impress me as a practical and well-rounded compact sedan that delivers genuine value in India's competitive entry-level segment. For 2026, Hyundai has refined this model with subtle yet meaningful updates including smoked LED taillamps and revised bumpers on higher trims, along with 15-inch alloy wheels on the SX variants. What truly sets the Aura apart is its dual-fuel flexibility, offering both petrol and CNG options across most variants starting from 6 lakh rupees ex-showroom. The 1.2-litre Kappa engine performs admirably in petrol guise, delivering 83 bhp and 114 Nm of torque with claimed efficiency of 17-21 kmpl, while the CNG variant achieves an impressive 28 kmpl with 69 bhp and 95 Nm. I find the automatic transmission option particularly appealing for urban commuters, as it provides smooth city driving without the hassle of constant gear changes. The spacious 402-litre boot and thoughtful interior touches like the 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make daily commuting genuinely pleasant. Build quality and fit-finish throughout the cabin remain commendably solid, though interior space doesn't match all competitors. For budget-conscious buyers seeking reliability and efficiency in India, the Aura represents a compelling choice that balances practicality with modern amenities.

I've been driving the Hyundai Aura around Delhi's chaotic traffic and highways lately, and it continues to impress with its refined 1.2-litre petrol engine churning out 83hp and 114Nm, paired smoothly with either a five-speed manual or AMT automatic, delivering ARAI-certified mileage up to 22kmpl while feeling peppy in city sprints with a top speed of 155kmph. The CNG bi-fuel variant, at 69hp and 95.2Nm, shines for efficiency at 28km/kg, ideal for India's rising fuel costs, though boot space drops to 227 litres from the petrol's 402 litres. Cabin quality stands out with solid fit-finish, light controls for effortless maneuvering, and now standard six airbags across all variants, plus ESC and hill-hold assist from mid-spec S upwards. Recent updates like the SX CNG getting a price hike of Rs9,000 with added features, a more affordable S AMT at Rs87,000 less, and the Corporate trim at Rs7.48 lakh make it value-packed from Rs6 lakh ex-showroom. Ride comfort is composed over potholes thanks to 165mm ground clearance, but rear space lags rivals like the Dzire. Overall, it's a stylish, safe compact sedan scoring a solid 7/10 for daily family use.

Hyundai has introduced a new EMI plan for the Hyundai Aura CNG, making it more accessible with a monthly EMI of Rs. 10,500. This move is expected to boost sales by making the vehicle more affordable for a wider audience. The Aura CNG is known for its striking design and advanced features.

Expert Verdict

Professional reviews and expert opinions on Hyundai Aura

Hyundai Aura is now available in India with BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines. The vehicle exists in a range of variants and exciting colour schemes, with three engine and two gearbox options. The Aura is based on the Grand i10 Nios hatchback and is the second Hyundai car in the compact sedan segment.

The Hyundai Aura: A Car Built to Last… My Personal Take

If there is a car comfortable, efficient and with a bit of style it is worth checking out the Hyundai Aura is one to check out. It is not that this car feels like just a car, this car feels like a trusty sidekick. That friend that is ready for everyday drives would not blink at a weekend drive. It may not seem flashy, but it is reliable, no drama, it just does what it is suppose to. When you are talking about a car you are going to be using every day the kind of reliability the Kuga offers does matter a lot.

Punchy But Not Wasteful Engine Performance

Now that we have addressed what is going on under the hood out of which lies the magic. Here Hyundai gives you two choices. If you are just driving in the city then the 1.2 petrol engine seems pretty impressive. This one just sips fuel it is almost like it is barely even trying to take a dent out of your tank and that is great for your wallet. And if you are like me and sometimes you need a bit more kick there is the 1.0litre turbo-petrol. This is my personal favourite of the engines. Why? Because when you pick that gas pedal up you get the real deal of that surge. There is not overdoing it by any means but under their power lies just enough punch to outrun potholes on the highway or to put a thump in your step when you are feeling a bit of a thrill. Trust me also that turbo really hits the sweet spot for a compact sedan.

Simple, Practical, and Surprisingly Spacious – Interior Comfort

I will be upfront now by god the Aura’s interior genuinely surprised me. And it offers plenty of room for a compact sedan. Hyundai truly knows how to use every inch and can be seen. The seats? They are also comfy and even in long drives they are very supportive. There was a few solid hours where I was out with the Aura and never once did my back start complaining. That says a lot. And while they have thrown in some soft touch materials in all the right places it does not make it feel too clammy. And the layout? I find it practical because everything is so close and you are not fumbling around in your car.

But the tech side is also spot on too. The infotainment system is easy to use and thankfully it is also not one of those ultra complicated systems that require a degree to figure out. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are there so all you have got to do is plug in your phone and you are good to go. It’s all up there whether it is music, navigation or just taking a quick call. When I adopted this setup I really found that to be smooth and hassle free.

Because Peace of Mind Matters are Safety Features.

One place Hyundai did not cut corners was safety. And they have loaded the Aura up with the types of features that really matter in everyday driving. All good additions to the safety of driving  airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensor. Imagine you are in a tight parking spot and those sensors kick in with a helpful beep letting you know just when you’re about to hit things. It is like having a co pilot on your case. For real, that peace of mind is priceless. I find knowing these features are there when I am driving with family or friends a big plus. Hyundai did not skimp on any of the safety that a driver needs for everyday safety and they certainly understood what a driver thinks they need.

Fuel Efficiency – Saving Your Wallet

Is not everybody sick of spending too much money on fuel? Aura does not miss a beat here either. With the 1.2 liter engine you are getting solid mileage so you are looking at fewer gas station stops. It is economical for city driving and do not make your wallet cry on those longer drives. I have tried many cars and when a car does not suck your tank dry just by driving it, it is a pleasant change. Now, if you get the turbo for a little bit of additional power that little bit of mileage may dip but for me the little bit of power is worth it. It is about what you value most of all.

Little Details That Make It Stands Out

Hyundai do not miss the little things and the Aura is a good example of that. For instance why not take the steering? It is responsive and light and it is a dream in city traffic. You re not having to turn or switch lanes. And visibility? Lucky you, you can see all around without blind spots of any sort, so you are comfortable changing lanes and parking. Do not get me started on boot space either. It is got a surprisingly roomy trunk for a compact sedan. It is got enough space to handle it whether you are packing groceries up or planning a quick getaway with a few bags to load. Hyundai obviously spent a great deal of time ideating the Aura’s design and it is clear in even the tiniest of details.

Aura in a Nutshell – Why it Dominates

So here is the bottom line. If you want a car that is practical, efficient and stylish enough to keep things interesting then the Hyundai Aura is worth a look. It is dependable, comfortable and it gets that sweet spot of everything you need without being overkill. Cars that may be crisper looking but the Aura is that friend that is always by your side no frills just does the job.
