Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Hyundai Alcazar strikes an excellent balance of style, comfort, and practicality, making it an ideal family SUV for Indian roads. Its premium interiors, spacious 6- or 7-seater configuration, and smooth ride quality deliver a refined driving experience without the drama of a performance SUV. The facelift model further improves its road presence and adds Level 2 ADAS features that enhance safety and convenience. While it may lack the outright power of some rivals and has a firmer suspension that might not suit extremely bad roads, it excels on highways with confident handling and minimal body roll. The petrol DCT variant’s smooth transmission and quiet cabin reinforce an effortless drive in city and highway conditions. Overall, it’s a well-rounded package that combines Hyundai’s strong after-sales backup with features and comfort that justify its premium price point, making it a smart choice for buyers seeking a reliable, stylish, and comfortable family SUV in India.

The Hyundai Alcazar is a compelling choice in the midsize 3-row SUV segment, striking a fine balance between style, comfort, and practicality. It impresses with its premium interior, quiet cabin, and a suite of modern features including Level 2 ADAS, which enhances safety on Indian roads. The driving experience is smooth and composed, especially on highways where its firm suspension shines by delivering confident handling and minimal body roll. While it isn’t the most powerful or spacious when compared to some rivals, its dynamics, build quality, and feature set make it a well-rounded family SUV. The dual petrol and diesel engine options, paired with manual and automatic transmissions, cater to varied preferences. Its city handling benefits from light steering and smooth transmission operation, enhancing daily usability. Overall, the Alcazar feels refined and thoughtfully packaged, making it a strong contender for buyers looking for a comfortable, feature-rich, and easy-to-drive 7-seater within a competitive budget.

Recent news and announcements

The Hyundai Alcazar continues to impress me as a thoughtfully designed three-row SUV that addresses practical family needs effectively. This 2024 facelift variant now offers clearer differentiation from its Creta sibling with distinctive styling elements and a more premium interior presentation. The cabin space feels genuinely comfortable for the first two rows, with ventilated seats in both rows and a panoramic sunroof enhancing the driving experience. I've found the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine delivering a satisfying 158 bhp mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DCT, providing good refinement and smooth power delivery. The diesel alternative offers respectable efficiency at around 18.1 kmpl, though with slightly lower performance figures. What genuinely appeals to me is the comprehensive feature set including Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, eight-speaker Bose sound system, and boss mode functionality. Pricing ranges from approximately 14.99 lakhs for base petrol variants to 21.55 lakhs for top diesel automatic variants. However, the third-row seating remains best suited for occasional use or children rather than regular adult occupancy, and second-row legroom in captain seat configurations feels somewhat compromised due to the three-row layout.

Having spent considerable time with the Hyundai Alcazar, I find it to be a thoughtfully engineered three-row SUV that delivers genuine value in the Indian market. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine produces 158 bhp and 253 Nm of torque, offering smooth refinement paired with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The diesel variant, while producing 114 bhp and 250 Nm, returns impressive fuel efficiency of up to 20.4 kmpl with the manual gearbox. What genuinely impressed me is the cabin quality and feature richness—panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats across multiple rows, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, and comprehensive Level 2 ADAS safety features make it exceptionally well-equipped. The six-seater captain seat configuration offers superior comfort for front and middle-row occupants with excellent knee room and headrest support. However, the third row remains confined, truly suitable only for children. The dimensions of 4,560 mm length and 2,760 mm wheelbase are perfectly proportioned for navigating Indian roads without feeling unwieldy. At its price point of ₹14.99 lakh onwards for petrol variants, the Alcazar represents compelling value against rivals, making it an excellent choice for families prioritizing comfort and features over absolute three-row practicality.

Hyundai has launched the bold new 2025 Alcazar with a refreshed design that features a new parametric jewel grille, full-width LED DRL strip, and redesigned LED projector headlamps. It offers a strong road presence with an extended 2760mm wheelbase and available 18-inch alloy wheels, making it a premium choice for Indian families. The Alcazar now comes with both 6-seater and 7-seater layouts. I think this update gives Alcazar a more aggressive and premium look that stands out well in its segment.

The 2025 Hyundai Alcazar Knight Edition is now available in India at Rs. 21.66 lakh , featuring an exclusive all-black exterior and interior theme. It is based on the top Signature trim and offered only with 7-seater seating, with red brake calipers and matte black Hyundai badges adding to its sporty appeal. Engine options include a 1.5-liter turbo petrol with 160PS and a 1.5-liter diesel with 116PS, both paired with automatic transmissions. I believe the Knight Edition will attract buyers looking for a stylish and premium SUV with a unique look.

Hyundai’s 2025 Alcazar now offers advanced driver assistance systems , enhancing safety for families and long-distance travelers. The turbocharged 1.5L petrol engine delivers peppy performance with 160PS and 253Nm torque, while the refined 1.5L diesel engine offers good fuel efficiency and 116PS. Transmission choices include 6-speed manuals, a 7-speed DCT for petrol, and 6-speed automatics for diesel variants. I think the introduction of turbo petrol and ADAS tech puts Alcazar in a strong position against rivals like the MG Hector Plus.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the Hyundai Alcazar ex-showroom price range is approximately from ₹16.7 lakh to ₹21.3 lakh depending on the variant, with petrol DCT models generally towards the higher end of this spectrum. On-road prices vary by city but typically add 10-15% on top for RTO charges, insurance, and registration, pushing the total cost closer to ₹18.5 lakh to ₹24 lakh. This pricing positions the Alcazar slightly above mass-market SUVs but below premium rivals like the Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Compass, bridging the gap between mid-size and premium family SUVs. Given its features, refinement, and comfortable cabin, the Alcazar’s price is competitive for customers prioritizing a plush yet practical 6/7-seater with modern safety tech. Its robust Hyundai service network also adds long-term value, though buyers should factor in that the road tax and insurance costs can add a significant premium in metro cities like Mumbai or Delhi where local levies are higher.
November 29, 2025
In India, the Hyundai Alcazar’s price ranges roughly between Rs. 17.50 lakh and Rs. 21.50 lakh ex-showroom, varying by variant and fuel type. On-road prices typically add around Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs. 2.0 lakh depending on the city and applicable taxes, leading to a final out-of-pocket around Rs. 19 lakh to Rs. 23.5 lakh. This price band positions the Alcazar to compete against other premium three-row SUVs like the MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari, balancing value and features. The Alcazar’s pricing strategy reflects Hyundai’s intent to offer a premium-feeling product with advanced features like ADAS, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and a premium audio system, often found in more expensive rivals. The competitive price coupled with Hyundai’s widespread service network makes it an attractive package for family buyers seeking a blend of comfort, equipment, and brand reliability at a reasonable cost relative to what it offers.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

The Hyundai Alcazar petrol DCT returns a mileage of around 16-17 km/l in mixed city and highway conditions, while the diesel variants can deliver over 20 km/l on long highway drives. Real-world fuel efficiency is adequate for a large SUV with three-row seating, balancing power and running costs well. If mileage and fuel economy are primary concerns, the diesel version offers better savings over time, especially for frequent long-distance travel; however, the petrol DCT provides smooth city driveability with decent efficiency.
November 29, 2025
The Alcazar delivers mileage figures that fit typical expectations for premium midsize SUVs in India. The petrol versions usually offer around 16-17 km/l on highways and 12-14 km/l in the city, while the diesel trims can achieve about 19-21 km/l on highways and 15-17 km/l in urban conditions. For buyers concerned about running costs, the diesel variants present a more economical option, especially if you cover high mileage regularly. However, the petrol autos provide smoothness and refinement with moderately reasonable fuel efficiency, ideal for mixed city-highway use. Ultimately, the Alcazar’s mileage balances performance and running cost, supporting well-rounded ownership economics for family SUV buyers.

Professional reviews and expert opinions on Hyundai Alcazar

Sitting in the driver’s seat of the Hyundai Alcazar 2024, I am impressed by the spacious space and premium mood. With the current facelift and the features so possessed, this automobile is set to give tougher competition than before to other cars in this SUV league like the Mahindra XUV700 And Tata Safari. And as someone who hails from a heavily SUV driven household myself am aware of how stood up – or down, in this case, did Alcazar against others and if it would be able to stand out amongst the sea of SUVs in India Market of practically any price range.

Design and Aesthetics

At first glance, the Alcazar has an eye-catching redesign on the front. Presently, the diamond cascade grille, which was part of the former model, is discarded and is replaced with an even more elegant and contemporary slender radiator grille. These H shape LED daytime running lights which are installed on the edges of the grille add a class and a uniqueness to the Alcazar, making it resemble high-end SUVs. Strolling to the back of the vehicle, I am able to observe that while the overall silhouette remains largely unchanged, the subtle tweaks to the front and rear bumpers and new alloys give the Alcazar a more masculine and dominating stance on the road.

Hyundai ALCAZAR Detailed Info

Walking through the threshold, the first thing I notice is how that it is a better designed and constructed cabin than its predecessor cabin. The dual-tone interior with the use of premium materials and well-placed ergonomics in the interiors impresses me instantly. The panoramic sunroof brightens up the cabin with loads of natural light, thus giving an even bigger illusion of space. What in particular amazes me is the second row especially in 6 seater settings with captain seats which is usually neglected. The extra features such as these ventilation for these seats and where to place the controls show that Hyundai has given the most importance to the passengers. Performance and Powertrain: Under the hood, the 2024 Alcazar has a choice of 2 engines, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol or 1.5 litre diesel engine. I start my test drive with the turbo-petrol variant, which produces a healthy 158 bhp and 253 Nm of torque. Mated to a 7-speed DCT, this powertrain is extremely responsive and refined. As I thread through the ease in the traffic of Udaipur, I find it quite gentler with the pressure on the accelerator and even more gentler with the speed even with DCT’s blipping quick shifts. But once I get out on the highway and start nailing the Alcazar down, I begin to detect that the kickdown has a little lag that may disappoint more sporty drivers.

Going to the diesel variant, I have to say I am indeed impressed by its level of refinement. One hundred fifteen bhp combined with 250 Nm of torque may appear to make it a relatively under powered unit when in fact, it cars quite well, particularly within the perimeters of a city. One cannot complain of the 6 speed auto box that comes with it because it feels rather smooth and its comforting quality does not go unnoticed.

Even during the last part of my test with the Alcazar, I found its ride quality to be quite good. Here is a crossover burr that does not bounce about too much giving a pleasant ride, how properly, no soft walls more on stable walls even compound irregularities comfortably. The steering though rather light which is tend to be favored for city driving as it is easy to turn may be slightly more engaged at higher speeds since I prefer more feel. All in all however, they have been tuned more for comfortable driving rather than sportiness, which feeds into the buyers of families that the car is aimed at.

Features and Technology

It is a fact that Hyundai has always been one of the pioneers in reinventing feature-rich vehicles in India and 2024 Alcazar is no different. The 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system is detailed, responsive and is loaded with features inclusive of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster is no less impressive and provides information as well as display graphics that can be modified whenever required.

What attracts me most are the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features. The Alcazar is equipped with 19 autonomous features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and forward collision warning which makes it a notable improvement in terms of safety technology for its segment. My experience with these features was quite ok, however, I happened to observe that the lane keep assist feature could sometimes be a little bit too aggressive especially on Indian roads where there are no clear lanes.

Other exceptional features worth mention include the Bose premium sound system which is very effective when it comes to sound quality and the front and second row ventilated seats which are very helpful in Indias’ hot and humid weather. Another feature that I find quite useful is the 360-degree camera system, more so while parking and navigating through spaces that are confined.

Variants

The 2024 Alcazar is available in four main variants namely Executive, Prestige, Platinum, and Signature. By interacting with various variants, I contend that it is the Platinum which presents the most optimal cutting of feature set and price. This includes the majority of frying pan and cooler features such as panoramic sunroof, ventilator andADAS sadly excluding the price tag of the last Signature variant.

Even though the Executive variant is affordably priced, it fails to incorporate some features which, in my opinion, are relevant in this class of vehicles. The Signature on the contrary prices the head-up display and the premium upholstery among other pleasures of luxury; however, the price increase may be hard to convince several buyers.

Market Position and Pricing

Alcazar which comes with three rows of seats is a premium product for theSRK market, is astonished by the ex-showroom prices of between Rs. 14.99 lakhs and Rs. 21.55 lakhs for their Alcazar jackets. It's a little more affordable than the Hyundai Creta but this is easily accountable with the added row of seats as well as more luxurious features. When looking at its counterparts such as the Mahindra XUV700 (13.99 lakh to 26.99 lakh scall fold) and Tata Safari (16.19 lakh to 27.34 lakhs) the Alcazhar needs to be marketed as more premium-targeted.

In my view, the Alcazar is likely to be seen as overly expensive, more so on the price lists in the showroom; however, the features, construction quality, and the brand itself place it within attractive options for consideration in the segment. The pricing strategy enables it to go head-to-head with entry level models of bigger SUVs and premium compact SUVs, thus occupying a peculiar place in the market.

Target Audience

Spending a great deal of time with the Alcazar, I think the target market for this vehicle is urban families with features and a premium experience than the outlandish space or off-road abilities. It is best suited for customers who only use the third row infrequently but do not wish to compromise on luxury and tech. The Alcazar should be ideal for busy working professionals or small entrepreneurs who require a multipurpose automobile for family trips and commuting with business partners.

Value for Money

About the value for money level of the Alcazar, I would say that the proposition is quite strong and I would particularly encourage mid range variants of it. Omega’s soft touch interior, features and Hyundai’s brand brings forth a good package. It does not have the expansive interior that some rivals do, but makes up for this in a more high market approach and emphasis on the comfort of the passengers.

Mileage and Fuel Efficiency

In terms of mileage, Hyundai claims 18.0 Km/l for turbo-petrol DCT and 20.4 Km/l for the diesel automatic, which is ARAI certified figure. I was able to get an approximate of 13 - 14 km/l in a blended driving environment while using the petrol engine, which is decent for the size and power output of such kind of vehicle. The diesel, as expected, returned much better figures, running at about 16 - 17 km/l in similar conditions. These are indeed great numbers for its class, however, there are those who will be able to buy those figures, which is something buyers looking for maximum efficiency should keep in mind.

Competitors and Comparison

The Alcazar’s principal rival in India is the Mahindra XUV700, the Tata Safari and to a certain extent, the Hector Plus from MG. While the XUV700 has more muscle and space, the Alcazar comes out tops in terms of the luxury interior offerings and the quality of fitting and finishing, though it lags behind in sheer muscle and even space. The Alcazar is as good as the Safari in terms of premium feel but the Safari has a more dominating road presence and has a more accommodating third row seat.

The area where the Alcazar excels is in merits of functionality, refinement and brand equity. Its ride quality is class leading and the level of technology being offered on board especially the ADAS has put the car in front of many of its competitors. On the best space avail equilibrium at maximum space or maximum power are however options such as the XUV700 or the Safari.

Conclusion

So as I type this last impression regarding the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar I am left with a fairly pleased impression of the car. It is a well-balanced car which effectively meets the needs of buyers looking for premium compact SUVs or three row cars. Restyles appearance combined with cutting-edge capabilities and excellent comfort of movement makes it worthy to be in its segment.

It may not be the most spacious or powerful candidate in its category, but the Alcazar performs extremely well in incorporating luxurious feel, modern technology and believe it or not reliability of Hyundai. There is a powerful need to cater to the urban families who want a multi utility SUV packed with all the features yet retaining the style and comfort and Alcazar makes a great pitch for that.

Its influence on the seating arrangement of that SUV is expected to be acute when it launches since it will eclipse a large number of current models in the market. In my opinion this is a great car especially if you share the views of prioritizing quality construction, new technology, and comforts instead of brute force or carrying capacity. It speaks volumes about how Hyundai has understood the changing landscape of the Indian automotive industry and how they have been able to produce a product which fits the needs of the urban SUV buyer.
