General information and overview

The 2013 Accent Executive is a compact sedan configured for practicality: a comfortable five‑seat cabin, decent rear legroom and a sensible boot make it suited to families and frequent commuters in India. It was offered with conventional petrol engines and focused on ride comfort and build solidity rather than sporty dynamics, and equipment levels on the Executive trim include essentials like power windows, central locking and a factory stereo while higher safety tech is limited compared with newer cars. I note that owners praise its drivability, predictable handling and Hyundai’s service network for long‑term ownership, but many also flag average fuel efficiency and missing diesel/CNG factory options as trade‑offs for buyers seeking the lowest running costs.

The 2013 Hyundai Accent Executive sedan targeted Indian families with its 1.4L petrol engine offering peppy performance, good pickup on highways and ghats, and smooth gear shifts ideal for city and long drives. I value its spacious interior with airy feel, quality materials, proper 5-seater comfort, wide driver visibility for safe parking, and features like power windows, central locking, four-speaker stereo, and optional top-class audio. Build quality shines with no issues after years, supported by Hyundai's service network. Ride is comfortable, handling confident, though AC slightly reduces power and mileage hits 10-11 kmpl city. Available in sedan style around 172 inches long, it includes fog lamps for safety but skips ABS. Pros dominate with looks, power, and value, making it a dependable used buy for practical Indian roads.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I find the 2013 Hyundai Accent Executive to be a practical, well-built small sedan that prioritises passenger comfort and day‑to‑day usability over cutting‑edge performance; its roomy cabin, composed ride and straightforward controls make it an easy car to live with in Indian cities while offering competent highway manners when needed. I appreciate the solid feel of the interior, the good packaging for five occupants and the comfortable suspension setup that soaks up bad roads without compromising stability. Where it falls short for me is economy and the lack of modern safety and efficiency features compared with later rivals — urban fuel consumption tends to be in the low teens kmpl and diesel or more frugal petrol options were missed for buyers focused on running costs. Overall, I would recommend the Accent to buyers who prioritise comfort, space and a relaxed driving experience over the latest tech or class‑leading fuel efficiency.

I find the 2013 Hyundai Accent a solid choice for Indian buyers seeking a reliable compact sedan that punches above its weight in comfort and space. With its roomy interior accommodating five passengers comfortably, including a proper 5-seater layout with ample storage and a reclining armrest option in higher trims, it excels on city roads and highways alike. I appreciate the strong build quality that holds up well even after years of use in Bangalore's congested gullies, ghats, and busy streets, showing no squeaks or rattles at 35,000 km. Power delivery is peppy with good pickup and handling, making it fun on ghat sections, though AC slightly impacts performance. The best-in-class audio system and features like power windows, central locking, and stereo with four speakers add value in this segment. Safety gets fog lamps but misses ABS, which is typical for entry-level cars then. While not the most feature-packed today, its smooth gear shifts, airy cabin, and Hyundai's widespread service network make it a value-for-money family hauler for budget-conscious buyers looking for durability without breaking the bank.

Latest Updates

Recent news and announcements

In 2023, Hyundai announced the discontinuation of the Hyundai Accent in the U.S. market, marking the end of a 25-year run for the model. The decision is part of Hyundais strategy to focus on electric vehicles and larger SUVs. This move leaves the Elantra and Sonata as the remaining sedan options from Hyundai. I think this shift reflects the changing consumer preferences towards more spacious and technologically advanced vehicles.

For the 2013 model year, the Hyundai Accent saw minimal changes, with the main update being a shuffling of standard features. The manual-transmission GLS now offered standard equipment on par with the automatic GLS. This maintained the Accents competitive edge in the subcompact sedan and hatchback segment. I believe these subtle updates helped keep the Accent relevant without disrupting its successful formula.
August 2, 2012
The 2013 Hyundai Accent features a powerful 1.6-liter direct-injection four-cylinder engine, producing 138 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque. Available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, the Accent delivered impressive performance for its class. I think the engines efficiency and power made it a standout in its segment.
June 15, 2012
In terms of design, the 2013 Hyundai Accent received a full redesign, inspired by the styling of the Elantra and Sonata. This new look included aggressive styling, improved interior quality, and enhanced fuel economy. The redesign made the Accent feel much bigger than it actually is, which was a significant improvement. I believe the new design helped attract more buyers to the model.

The 2013 Hyundai Accent was praised for its roomy interior, comfortable ride, and solid build quality. It offered both sedan and hatchback body styles, catering to different consumer preferences. The interior featured a remote keyless entry system, an infotainment system, and air conditioning, making it a comfortable choice for daily driving. I think the combination of space and features made it a great value for money.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In the Indian used market the 2013 Hyundai Accent Executive typically trades in the range of roughly ₹5.17–5.72 lakh depending on condition, city and exact specification, with common ex‑showroom/quoted prices around ₹5.18 lakh in several metros and on‑road equivalents near ₹5.68 lakh after taxes and local charges have been accounted for in listings from that era. When assessing a specific car I focus on service history, accident damage, ownership count and tyre/consumable condition because those drive the real on‑road cost for a decade‑old sedan; a well‑maintained Accent will demand a premium within this band while a neglected example can be priced much lower but then needs immediate spend on brakes, suspension bushes and belts. For buyers I recommend using the ₹5.2–5.7 lakh bracket as a negotiation starting point, then factoring in transfer, RTO and insurer costs for final on‑road outlay and setting aside a modest service/tyre budget given the car’s age.

In India, the 2013 Hyundai Accent Executive carried an ex-showroom price of around ₹5.18 lakhs in New Delhi, with on-road prices reaching up to ₹5.68 lakhs in major cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, factoring in taxes, insurance, and registration. Base variants started closer to ₹4.50-5.17 lakhs ex-showroom, topping at ₹5.72 lakhs for higher trims, making it competitively priced against rivals like the Maruti Dzire or Honda City entry models back then. I view this as excellent value even for used examples today, as the sturdy build and low maintenance costs from Hyundai's reliable service network keep ownership affordable—many run trouble-free past 35,000 km with basic servicing. For buyers eyeing a pre-owned unit, negotiate under ₹2-3 lakhs depending on condition and mileage, but inspect for rust in high-humidity areas. This pricing positioned it as a smart buy for middle-class families, offering premium space and comfort without luxury car premiums, helping control long-term running costs effectively.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

Typical real‑world petrol mileage for the 2013 Accent in Indian city conditions is around 10–11 kmpl with better figures on mixed or highway runs; expect slightly lower returns with frequent AC use or heavy traffic. If running costs are a primary concern I would compare total cost of ownership including maintenance, fuel consumption and the availability of cheaper diesel or CNG alternatives in your area before deciding.
December 15, 2025
I note the 2013 Hyundai Accent's petrol engine delivers 10-11 kmpl in urban India, which is average for its class but lags behind efficient hatchbacks, with no diesel option hurting running costs. For mileage-focused buyers, it's viable for occasional highway runs at 14-15 kmpl, but high fuel prices make CNG/LPG variants or rivals better for daily commutes—factor ₹8-10/km running costs to decide.

Professional reviews and expert opinions on Hyundai Accent (2013)

The Accent has long been the bread-and-butter car for Hyundai in the sedan segment.

The Accent has long been the bread-and-butter car for Hyundai in the sedan segment. With the advent of newer competition too, the Hyundai has remained unchanged. This has been a brave move on the manufacturer’s part in the face of updated variants brought out in the same segment. The fact is, that the Accent slots in perfectly as the ‘entry-level’ sedan and as an alternative to the Indigo. Coupled with CNG alternatives fit straight from the factory, Hyundai have been busy out of the box keeping the Accent relevant to the first-car-sedan buyer. Styling, though dated, is not old. The original design, along with the availability of some smart trim options has kept the Accent relevant as a choice to the buyer.

The Hyundai Accent is a well-designed car with versatile and contemporary body style and styling. The car exhibits a bolder design with an aggressive rear bumper design and an eye-catching front style. The 5-door option provides great comfort and versatility and the extended wheel-base gives it a sleeker and wider appearance. The Hyundai Accent offers great amount of luxury and cargo volume when it comes to the interior. Hyundai Accent is available in two variants: Accent Executive and Accent Eco LPG. CNG kit is also available for Rs. 57,000. Recently, Hyundai India updated the Accent with all-new front grille, all-beige interiors and chrome inserts in the door moulding. Despite its age, the Accent is still selling in good numbers, thanks to its very competitive price and solid build quality.

Exterior

It is easy to make the connection with the rest of the Hyundai line-up and the Accent. Distinct, flowing curves from the front to the rear and back to the front split grille, makes for a sedate presence, unlike its newer stable mates which are distinct head-turners. The design is so clean, simple that tweaking has been all that Hyundai has been doing for the best part of a decade. The cleaner profile of the tires and fit into wheel arches gives the car an uncomplicated look that is an easy appeal to a buyer.

Interior

The interiors in the Accent are the pleasant tones of grey that we first encountered in the older Sonata and the Santro. The center console is a no-fuss uncomplicated layout reminiscent of the smaller cars of the Hyundai fold. The Accent could do with an update to its hatch sibling – the i20 and its blue illumination in the cabin. Passenger space is generous but due to a slightly disproportionately longer boot means lesser space in the cabin and this is evident when the front seats are pulled all the way back. The knee room for anyone taller than average, is an issue but the boot space is probably best in class.

Comfort and Convenience

There is ample storage in nooks and crannies in this car. A reclining armrest in the rear is desirable but has been sacrificed to make it a proper 5 seater. With Hyundai’s best-in-class audio system, the Accent sounds every bit as refined as it feels. In the price band, it is tough to find a better equipped car. The build quality also puts it ahead in the pecking order. The excellent stereo that comes with the car is optional but strongly recommended. As such, the features offered on the car are not only class-leading but class-defining.

Engine, Performance and Gearbox

The petrol 1.5 litre engine in the Accent is a terrific power-plant and makes 94 Bhp. Torque is available throughout the power band, making the Accent one of the most desired stock cars for modification enthusiasts though this brings down the economy in city driving to barely into double digit territory. Indeed, the stock car has been the next in line after the Esteem and then the Baleno for its sheer flexibility in terms of putting in the extra performance filter or racing stripes on the bodywork. The Accent is a delight in this aspect.

Mileage

Fuel consumption is a slightly thirsty 10-11 kmpl in active urban usage which does not put it at par with well-endowed hatchbacks in the same price band. Indeed, a diesel option on this car has been sorely missed.

Safety Features

The entry level segment is not the most equipped to put the safety of its passengers first. Fog lamps are a good accessory considering people use the stock car for multi-purpose activities. Inclusion of any more like ABS is counter-intuitive to Hyundai’s strategy and can be understood, when it is given a miss.

Suspension and Brakes

Suspension and braking options on the sedan have not been updated in keeping with the time but the original package was deemed good enough at the time. The suspension rides a little harder than the hatch sibling i20 and in doing so, makes the marginally lower ground clearance sustainable on our poor roads. Braking options are standard and adequate too, with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes doing the job. In the lack of an ABS, it is the best that can be done.

Shades

The Accent maintains the historical lineage with its predecessors in terms of the shades it is being offered in. White, black, silver, gold and red (not the bright red of the Accent Viva, but a sober maroon) are the options available.

Variants

The Hyundai Accent is offered in standard trim levels, with the options differing only in terms of the petrol, LPG or the ‘Executive CNG’ version for buyers who prefer thrift in day-to-day spending on their cars. The CNG as well as the LPG kit is a factory fit standard and has not been caused any untoward problems.

Warranty

Standard manufacturer warranty of 2 years with an option to extend it by another year.

Verdict

A product now in the ‘harvest’ stage of its lifecycle; though the strategy by Hyundai is understandable and the popularity of the Accent points towards its success. That being said however, it has long been a favourite and is a cult-classic among the modification-seekers. As a stock car for enthusiasts, there is none that is better.
